Robert (Bob) Hughes passed away on August 27, 2018. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on October 13, 1945 to John J. Hughes and Helen Ryan Hughes. He was raised in South Orange, New Jersey where he attended Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary School. He graduated in 1964 from Columbia High School in Maplewood, N.J. followed by attendance at Essex County College in Newark, N.J. In 1968 he married Jacquelyn Delaney of Maplewood, NJ.
Bob worked at Foster Wheeler Engineering Firm in Livingston, N.J. from 1965-1975. In 1976, Bob moved his family to Ponca City, Oklahoma. He worked for Central Mfg. & Supply & Anc-Co., Inc. of Ponca City. He was their Vice President of Sales. He then worked for Malco in Ponca City & Weldex in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Bob continued in the steel & metal fabrication business as Sales Manager for Precision Tool & Die from 1998 to 2018.
Bob’s hobbies were bowling and fishing until he discovered golf. He took part in the Cherokee Strip Golf Classic for several years. He loved spending time with his family and puttering around the yard on weekends. He also spent many weekends supporting his grandchildren on the soccer field and in the bleachers. He loved to spend time with his many grandchildren and was very proud of them all. Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and served as an usher for many years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John & Helen Hughes, and a son, Michael Scott Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie, of the home, his son, Rob and wife Kylie of Ponca City, OK, daughter, Kimberly Hughes Nelson of Bartlesville, OK, 9 grandchildren: Corinne, Michael, Bailey, Cole, Kaitlyn, Sean, Taryn, Jesse and Cooper, two brothers, James J. Hughes and wife Elizabeth Hughes of Little Egg Harbor, NJ and John J. Hughes and wife Margaret Hughes of Florham Park, NJ, sister Kathe Ann Hughes Fawcett and husband, James S. Fawcett of Lake George, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bob's family will receive friends at Trout Funeral Home on Thursday evening, August 30, 2018 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
A memorial ceremony for Bob will be held at Ponca City Assembly Church at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 31, 2018. Following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Services are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory in Ponca City.

Jacquelyn “Jackie” Hughes went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2018. She was born in Newark, NJ on June 5, 1946, to John R. Delaney & Mary Patricia Kelly Delaney. She moved to Maplewood, NJ in 1953 and attended elementary school at Our Lady of Sorrows in South Orange, NJ. and graduated in 1964 from Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey. In 1968, she married Robert Hughes of South Orange, New Jersey. Prior to her marriage, she was a secretary at Delaney Construction Company in East Orange, New Jersey. Due to Robert’s employment, they made their home in Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1976.
Jackie remained at home caring for her three children until 1986. She was employed at First Assembly Christian School & Day Care for 14 yrs. She was the Day Care Director for twelve years and School Principal for two years. Jackie loved ministering to children. She was a member of Ponca City Assembly of God. Jackie taught children’s Sunday school classes for several years, and also a women’s Sunday school class & was very involved in Women’s Ministry. Jackie was the coordinator for the church Food Ministry for several years & she was the church receptionist from 2009-2012. She was on the childcare advisory board at Pioneer Vo-Tech too. Jackie implemented the Prayer Walk at the 5th St. park walking trail for Ponca City Schools from 2006-2018.
The joy of her life was spending time with the Lord. She treasured the time spent with her nine grandchildren, family, friends & church family. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and spent many weekends on the soccer field and in the bleachers cheering them on.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Hughes, a son, Michael Scott Hughes, her sisters, Kathe Boegershausen and Joanne Maytitdu of New Jersey, and her parents, John & Mary Delaney of New Jersey.
She is survived by her son, Rob Hughes & wife, Kylie of Ponca City and her daughter, Kimberly Hughes Nelson of Bartlesville, OK. Jackie leaves nine grandchildren: Corinne, Michael, Bailey, Cole, Kaitlyn, Sean, Taryn, Jesse & Cooper.
Jackie is also survived by a brother, J. Richard Delaney & wife Luisa of Wellington, Florida, a sister, Ellen Hartmann of Green Acres, Florida, brother-in-law, Gary Boegershausen of Parsippany, NJ, brothers & sisters-in-law, James J. Hughes, and wife, Elizabeth of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, John Hughes & wife Margaret of Florham Park, NJ & Kathe Hughes Fawcett & husband James, of Lake George, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews on the east coast who were close to her heart.
Jackie’s deepest desire was to show the love of the Lord and let others know how much He loved them. She tried to encourage others and give them hope.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, December 14, 2018 from 7:00-8:30 pm at Trout Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony for Jackie will be held at Ponca City Assembly of God on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm followed by interment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Casket bearers will be: Michael Hughes, Bailey Nelson, Cole Godberson, Sean Hughes, Jesse Hughes, and Cooper Godberson.
