Bucky Hughes longtime Ponca City resident passed away Friday evening, May 22, 2020 with his family by his side. He was 80 years of age. Bucky was born November 6, 1939 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Elzie and Jennie Dugan Hughes.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2020 in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with David Robinson officiating. Visitation will be held at Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Bucky grew up and attended school in Kay County. He met the love of his life Mary Buntt and they were married December 27, 1959 in Winfield, KS and they made their home in Ponca City. Bucky was a heavy equipment operator and he work for several Rock Crushers in the area. During his early years he enjoyed hunting and he was an avid fisherman all his life until ill health kept him from fishing.
Those left behind to cherish his memory is his wife Mary of 60 years, 1 son; Bucky Hughes and 1 daughter; Sondra Maxwell both of Ponca City, OK 2 sisters; Naomi Hughes of Miami, OK and Jane Hughes of Kansas City, KS. 1 grandson; John Maxwell and wife Kayla of Ponca City, Ok and 1 great grandson; Charlie Maxwell. He is also survived by two nieces.
Bucky was preceded in death by his parents, Son in law; Wilbur Maxwell and 3 sisters.
