November 15, 1927 - January 26, 2021

Lawrence Charles Horinek was born November 15, 1927, to John and Louise Horinek in Kildare, OK. He passed away on January 26, 2021 at home with his family. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Lawrence attended Foster Rural School in Kildare, St. Francis Catholic School in Newkirk, and in 1947, graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Ponca City.

On June 13, 1951, Lawrence married Betty Stieber at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ponca City. Lawrence and Betty lived on a farm in the Kildare area most of their married life. They moved to Ponca City in 2005. Lawrence was engaged in farming and raising cattle. He also raised caged chickens for several years, selling eggs to local grocers. He served on the Kildare School Board and the Rural Water Dist. #3 Board. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and National Farmers Organization.

Lawrence's early passion was flying with his brother in their Cessna airplane. He would land the plane on the farm's alfalfa field to pick up Betty and their daughters for a tour of the countryside.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty, four daughters and their spouses, Ann and Kevin Murphy of Ponca City; Lea Barth of Ponca City; Carrie and Creyton Riseling of Ponca City; and Jill and Stan Reiss of Ponca City. Grandchildren are Bryan and Jacque Murphy of Mustang, OK; Tad and Jenny Murphy of Corinth, TX; Jace and Lisa Murphy of Port Orchard, Washington; Kylee Riseling of Hillsboro, OR; Caden Riseling of Ponca City; McKenna Riseling of Seoul, South Korea; Kevin and Jillian Reiss of Edmond, OK; Brandon Estes of Ponca City, OK; Jamie Reiss of Edmond, OK; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Arthur and Leonard Horinek, sisters-in-law Catherine and Lucille, son-in-law Ron Barth, nephews Dennis and Herb Horinek, and niece Teresa Boone.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Saturday, Jan 30, at St Mary's Catholic Church in Ponca City. Face masks are required. Those unable to attend the Mass may attend virtually on the Trout Funeral Home website, www.troutfuneralhome.com. Click on the "live-stream" or tool bar icon on the top right corner after 10:45 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Catholic School, 415 S. 7th, Ponca City, OK 74601 or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
