Violet Maxine Higgins, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed August 4, 2015 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 74 years of age.

Violet was born May 6, 1941 in Pawnee County, Oklahoma, the daughter of Albert Seward and Inez (Jones) Seward. She was a 1960 graduate of Barnsdall High School and completed LPN training at the Ponca City Pioneer Vo-Tech. She was married to Curtis Raymond Higgins on April 27, 1963 at Middle Enterprise, Oklahoma. Violet served as an LPN at Shawn Manor Nursing Home and the Ponca City Hospital, retiring in 2008. Her enjoyments were her grandchildren, reading and working puzzles.

She is survived by one son, Johnnie Higgins and wife Colleen, of Ponca City and one daughter, Kimberly Wade and husband Jim, of Glenpool, Oklahoma; one brother, Donnie Seward and wife Julie, of Ponca City; two sisters, Linda Pendergraft and Brenda Peterson of Newkirk; 3 grandchildren, David Wade and wife Leah, Collette Johnson and husband Nate and Zackary Wade and wife Alisha; 8 great grandchildren, Peyton, Landon, and Jillian Wade; Waylan, Maia and Beau Johnson; Tripp and Lennon Wade; 3 step-grandchildren, Tamelia Klick, Cassie Butler and Lindsey Martin; 9 great-step grandchildren; other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Curtis in 2002; one son, Albert Dewayne Higgins in 2011; one brother, Miles Seward; and two sisters, Bonnie Fields and Wanda Cotham.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Wildman presiding. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the graveside committal there will be a reception for family and friends at the Carolyn Renfro Event Center, 445 Fairview. The casket will be closed at the service but people may view at Grace Memorial Chapel from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 8 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Casket bearers are Tony Hutson, Michael Sims, David Wade, Zack Wade, Troy Seward and Jeffery Seward.
