Delbert ''Corky'' Grassman former resident of Ponca City, OK passed away June 13, 2016 in Tulsa, OK he was 84 years of age. Delbert was born on August 7, 1931 in Ponca City, OK to Walter F. and Letha L. Wilson Grassman. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 in the Grace Memorial Chapel with Pastor Scott Burmeister officiating. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Delbert grew up on his parent's farm south of Ponca City near White Eagle Indian Reservation and graduated the 8th grade from White Eagle School, May 1945. He graduated from Ponca City High School, June 2, 1949. Upon graduation he attended O.S.U. graduating in January 1954 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. After graduating and while working with Continental Pipeline Company of Ponca City he married Goldie Marie Pierce on March 18, 1955 in Springfield, Missouri. They made their first home in Ponca City and remained married for a joyous 61 years. They moved around due to various engineering projects and lived in Colorado, Montana, Kansas, Missouri, California, and Alaska. On July 25, 1977, while in Alaska, he received his private pilot's license and flying became one of his greatest enjoyments. Besides flying, Del also enjoyed Snow Skiing, Golf, Hunting, Fishing and Camping. Del had a wonderful life. He has traveled all over the world and has experienced things most of us dream of. May he continue with his travels and other wonderful experiences with Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Survivors include: Wife: Marie of the home, 2 Daughters: Gayla Grassman Bannon and Mary K. Warren and husband Eric. 1 Son: Mark Grassman and wife Brenda. 1 Sister in law: Wilma Grassman of Ponca City, OK. Grandchildren: Brandy, Lindsay, Cameron, Eric, Ryan, Jeremy, Kerri and Trevor. Great grandchildren: Joshua, Arial, Elizabeth, Josiah, Brooklyn, Bryson, Zoie, Ryker, Abraham and Job.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Letha, his brother Norman and sister Barbara.
