Bobbie Everett Denton, resident of Ponca City, passed away on Thursday, June 04, 2009 at the Ponca City Medical Center. He was 80.
Bobbie was born the son of Earl Brandon Denton and Bertha Kitchel Denton on November 17, 1928 in Shidler, Oklahoma. He attended Shidler Public Schools as well as Shidler Methodist Church. Bobbie enlisted in the Regular Army on April 2, 1948 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on March 19, 1952. He spent three years, three months and 29 days of Foreign Service during the Korean War. Bobbie worked in the trucking industry for 34 years and for 20 of the 34 year span he was as a teamster member. Bobbie married Donna Jene Bullen on December 28, 1971 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After his retirement in 1986, the couple made their home in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna of the home; children, Bobby DentonCrow of Bushton, Kansas, Jay Denton of Great Bend, Kansas, Jeff Denton of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, Ronna Denton Whetzel of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Robert Denton of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Steven Denton of Fairfax, Oklahoma; brother, Joe Denton of Altus, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Vester Denton; and one sister, Ruth Denton. Casket bearers for the service will be Jaccob Denton, Freeman Shuart, Bobby Denton, Kyler Farris, Howard Whetzel, Daniel Robertson, Kenny Berg and Troy Lawson.
Honorary casket bearers will be Justin Denton and Blaine Denton.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2009 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Reverend Rick Hughes of Victory Worship Center officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
