Irene M. Davis, longtime Ponca City resident, passed Thursday, October 2, 2014 at her home. She was 77 years of age.

Irene was born July 3, 1937 in Osage County, the daughter of Lawrence Elmer Lauver and Grace Elizabeth Fowler Lauver. She attended grade school at Peters School, middle school in Burbank and high school in Ponca City. She was married to Robert C. Bob Davis on October 19, 1956 in Denton, Texas. The couple made their first home in Dallas, Texas. Irene had worked many jobs throughout her years that included 10 years for the Owens Illinois Can Company, Chick N Millies, Jens Marie Hotel, Irenes Cake and Decorating Shop, the Osage Donut Shop and the Ponca City Head Start Program.

Irene was a member of the Ponca City Free Will Baptist Church, a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Royal Matron of the Order of the Amaranth. Her enjoyments included plastic canvas, cooking and sewing.

She is survived by her three children, Bruce Davis and wife Sharon, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Sherry L. Davis and Elsie Goosey and husband Charles, all of Ponca City 2 brothers, William Lauver of Ponca City and Marion Gayland Lauver of Hinesville, Georgia 2 sisters, Irma Reading of Enid, Oklahoma and Wanda Williams of Lubbock, Texas four grandchildren, Robert Davis, Kristen Davis, Bradford Davis and Candace Goosey other nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband Bob 3 brothers, Don Lauver, Jim Lauver and Buddy Lauver three sisters, Betty Lauver, Frances Randolph and Leora Rhoades.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Free Will Baptist Church, 1900 East Hubbard Road, Ponca City. Former pastor, David Bigger will preside, assisted by current pastor Adam Phillips. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers are Bruce Foxworthy, Pete Horne, Tom Burg, Chuck Crane, David Spears and Bobby Miller. Honorary casket bearers are Glen and Juanita Bishop and members of the Mountain Climbers Sunday School Class.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 1904 North Union, Suite 103, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601 or to the memorial fund of choice.
