Betty J. Daugherty, long time resident of Ponca City, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma. She was 77 years old.

Betty was born on October 28, 1930 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Warren Henry Lamm and Eva Mae (Hurlbet) Lamm. She attended schools in Ponca City, Kildare and graduated from Newkirk High School in 1949. She worked for several insurance companies and owned her own beauty shop for 10 years. She retired in 2001 after 18 years as church secretary at First United Methodist Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Betty married Raymond E. Daugherty in 1951. They made their home in Blackwell, Oklahoma, Kansas City, Kansas, Wichita, Kansas and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. They moved back to Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1969.

She was an active member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and Beta Sigma Phi. Betty loved to be with her family and friends, and she especially enjoyed being with her kids, grandkids and great grand kids. She also enjoyed music, keeping journals and genealogy.

Survivors include one son, Michael E. Daugherty and his wife, Ruth of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Monica R. Moxley and her husband, Larry of Marland, Oklahoma and Kelly S. Vinyard and her husband, Marty of Ponca City, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Adam Daugherty of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Chris Daugherty and his wife, April of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Rydal Anderson of Marland, Oklahoma, Shannon Tollison and her husband, Michael of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Sheridan R. Moss of Ponca City, Oklahoma; 2 great grandchildren, Logan and Lane Daugherty; she is also survived by one sister, Verna Gottschalk of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Virginia Lamm of San Antonio, Texas and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George H. Lamm, Warren W. Lamm and Robert P. Lamm.

The family will be at the funeral home to receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2008.

A private family burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lyle Shipley officiating.

The family requests that those wishing to make memorial contributions in her name (in lieu of flowers) may make them to the Asbury United Methodist Church, 700 West Liberty, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.
