Charles LeRoy Cobb, 88, a lifelong resident of Ponca City, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016, in Tulsa.
A visitation with the family present will be held 5-7pm Wednesday, May 18, 2016, in the Historic Great Room, at Trout Funeral Home. The funeral ceremony is 2 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the Newkirk First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bryan Tener officiating.
Following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest, with U.S. Army Honors, at Resthaven Memorial Park, Ponca City. His family members will serve as casket bearers. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory. Charles was born on March 7, 1928, to Madison LeRoy Cobb and Pansy Alice Gossett Cobb in Ponca City. He was raised in Ponca City, graduating from high school in 1946.
Following high school, Charles joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in occupied Japan.
Upon his return to the U.S., Charles attended and graduated from Oklahoma A & M, where he met his wife.
On Nov. 24, 1952, he and Rilla M. Grove were married in Enid. They lived northeast of Ponca City, farming and raising cattle, while Charles was employed by Conoco as a process engineer.
Charles enjoyed bird hunting with his dogs, riding his horse, and golfing, as well as wood working, making bowls and cutting boards for friends and family. He is a long time member of the Newkirk First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Rilla Cobb, of the home; son, Everrett LeRoy Cobb and wife, Ellen, of Ponca City; sister, Jane Ellen Anderson and husband, Robert, of Summerfield, Fla.; grandchildren: Lucas Aaron Cobb and wife, Christi, of Kansas City, Kan.; Anthony Clinton Cobb and wife, Allison, of Spring Lake, Mich.; Angela Marie Nessett and husband, Larry, of Comstock Park, Mich.; Amanda Marie Mayahi and husband, Aziz, of Tulsa; Chelsey Renee Allen and husband, Matthew, of Houston, Texas; Jennifer Lee Cobb and fiancé, Jason Callaway, of Tulsa; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Mark Eugene Cobb.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Newkirk First United Methodist Church, 101 S. Walnut, Newkirk, OK.
