Alvin H. Clemens, longtime resident of Ponca City, died Friday, May 13, 2005, at his home. He was 91.
The funeral will be held on Monday, May 16, at 1 p.m. at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Branscum, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
He was born Dec. 19, 1913, in Mineral, Kan., the son of Homer Clemens and Margaret Bookout Clemens. He was raised in Three Sands and went to school and graduated from Tonkawa. He joined the United States Navy on Dec. 13, 1941 and served for three and a half years.
Alvin enjoyed working with wood and metal crafts. He also loved to pick at the pecans and enjoy them at nights.
On June 10, 1944, he married Delpha Evans in Perry. They made their first home here in Ponca City.
He worked for 33 years at Conoco and retired from there in December 1979. After retiring Alvin worked as a contractor for the post office for 16 years.
He was a member of the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Jack "Butch" Clemens and wife Dianne of Ponca City; numerous grandchildren, Angela Clemens, Rebekah Olivas, Misty and Marcus Smithson, Ginger and Jason Nichols, Brian and Lacy Bufford, Tamara White and Wendy Bufford; great-grandchildren, Briana and Jessica Olivas, Jacob, Kristin, Alex, Austin, and Jaelynn Smithson, Jayson and Jasmine Nichols, Hope Bufford, Cassandra, Cory, Randi, Raeneal, and Ransom; four nieces, Maudine Collyar of Ponca City, Sharla Brown of Blackwell, Joan Ewell of Oklahoma City, Monica Singmaster of Hominy; one nephew, Charles Clemens of Hobbs, N.M.; and his beloved dog, Cricket.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Delpha in 2001; his parents; three brothers, William Clemens, Lawerance Clemens and Robert Clemens; great-grandson, Tucker Ryan Bufford.
Casket bearers will be Kenneth Evans, Walter Evans, Carl Evans, John Pulliam, Harold Krout and Mickey Robinson.
Honorary bearers will be Brian Bufford, Marcus Smithson and Jason Nichols.

Delpha Lee Clemens, resident of Ponca City, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 19, 2001, at her home. She was 77.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Grace Memorial Chapel with Rev. Glen Carroll, presiding. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Delpha Lee (Evans) Clemens was born Aug. 10, 1923, at Tonkawa, the daughter of Delmer Evans and Julia (Moore) Evans. She was a graduate of Tonkawa High School. She was married to Alvin H. Clemens on June 10, 1944, at Perry. Mrs. Clemens had operated a day care center in Ponca City for 30 years. She was a member of the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church and the TOPPS Club. Her enjoyments included working puzzles and, in earlier years, sewing doll clothes and baking.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin, of the home; one son, Jack "Butch" Clemens and wife, Dianne, Ponca City; one sister, Mari Lou Redeker, Hominy; one half-brother, Stan Phelps, Bartlesville; five grandchildren, Rebekah Lynn Clemens, Angela Marie Clemens, Misty Smithson and husband, Marcus, Brian Bufford and wife, Lacy, and Ginger Nichols and husband, Jason; seven great-grandchildren, Kristin, Jacob, Alex, Austin and Joe Lynn Smithson, Hope Bufford and Jayson Nichols; and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Erma Higgins and Bessie Mason; and one brother, D.L. Evans.
Casket bearers will be Marcus Smithson, Brian Bufford, Jayson Nichols, John Pulliam, Mickey Robinson and Kenneth Evans.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ponca City Humane Society, P.O. Box 2311, Ponca City, Okla. 74602.
The family will be at 2012 John.
