Carla Ann "Annie" Hodges Bales, resident of Ponca City, passed away
Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 34.
Carla was born March 27, 1974 in Ponca City, the daughter of Vickie and J.D.
Stephenson and Carl Hodges. She was raised in the area and graduated from Ponca
City High School with the class of 1992. On November 17, 2000 she married Tony
Bales in Miami, Oklahoma. She was an employee of Mega Burger for 13 years.
Carla enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephew and all her family. She
also enjoyed reading, playing cards, cross stitching and watching NASCAR racing
on TV.
She is survived by her husband of 8 years, Tony, of the home; her parents Vickie
and J.D. Stephenson of Ponca City, Carl and Cathy Hodges of Manhattan, Kansas,
and Debbie Hodges of St. Roberts, Missouri; one sister, Deidre Dodds of Ponca
City; two brothers, Mark Stephenson and wife, Dtael, of Stafford, Virginia and
Chris Stephenson and wife, Brenda, of Ponca City; grandparents Iva and Larry
McGavran, of Ponca City and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her Uncle Matt Simmons; grandparents, Robert L.
"Bob" Simmons, Clyde Hodges, Freda Sturder and great grandparents Harry and Neva
Bernett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at the Osage
Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Harold Hutchins presiding. Interment will be
in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial
Chapel.
Casket bearers will be Steve Combs, D.J. Combs, Brian Combs, Charles Stephenson,
Arnnop "A" Sangapol, Casey Badley, Gary Bales and Jim Hazelbaker. Honorary
casket bearers will be Kurtis Bales, Stan Combs, Scotty Strome and Matthew Dodds.
The family will gather at the home of J.D. and Vickie Stephenson, 7213 South
Ranch Dr. after the services.
Memorial contributions may be made in Carla's name for the Prevention and
Treatment of Child Abuse, Childhelp National Headquarters, 15757 North 78th
Street, Scottsdale, Arizona 85260-1680.
