John D. Alexander, resident of Ponca City died Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at St. Francis Via Christi Hospital in Wichita. He was 70.
The funeral service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, March 29, 2003 at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Hardin, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at Providence Baptist Church from 7-8 pm Friday evening, March 28. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.
John was born August 4, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri to George H. and Marjorie H. (King) Alexander. He was married to Jo Anne Christmas on May 29, 1952 in Overland Park, KS. In 1954 he received his degree from Kansas University in chemical engineering. He was employed by Conoco in 1954 and moved to Ponca City. He retired on February 28, 1993 as a Sr. Staff Engineer.
John was able to reach a large number of people and share God’s word through a tape duplication and distribution ministry.
He was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he served as both an elder and a deacon. He was also a member of the Society of Chemical Engineers. He enjoyed woodworking, his church, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Jo of the home, one son Keith and his wife Meg of Ponca City, four grandchildren; Jacob, Mariah, Toby and Megan and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son
