August 27, 1931 - October 20, 2024
Julaine Phylis Beguin Ogden, age 93, of Ponca City, OK, passed away October 20, 2024, at Via Christi Village. Viewing will be between 12:00 and 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Trout Funeral Home Chapel, with a Funeral Ceremony beginning at 2:00 PM. Julaine was born on August 27, 1931, in Sioux City, IA to Phillip Morris and Florence (Scurlock) Beguin. At the age of 16, the family of 9 moved to Pea Ridge, Arkansas, in 1948. She graduated from Pea Ridge High School in 1949, and lived there for several years, giving birth to 4 children while there. Later, she moved to Ponca City, to join her parents and family, and lived there for 60 years. In Ponca City, she met the love of her life, Leo Ogden. Julaine moved to California for a time She worked for many years as a farmer; traveling the country for harvests all across the country. She and her husband, Leo, were the first farmers in over 100 years to plant cotton in Kay County. PBS came to interview both of them while making a documentary of their farm. Julaine, Leo, and Jerry brought Commodore Pool Tables, to Ponca City where they made custom pool tables for people as far away as England.
Julaine loved to sew and crochet, making many beautiful afghans and articles of clothing. She always had a large garden, loved to can produce, and was an amazing cook. She was a long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose, where she was very active and enjoyed listening to music there.
Survivors include: her children, Robert "Bobby" Evans and his wife, Kathy of Seligman, MO, Judy Weston of Bentonville, AR, Corkey Evans of Seligman, MO; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Beguin and his wife, Margie, of Ponca City, OK, Johnny Beguine and his wife, Judy, of Burlington, IA; sister, Joanne Yarbrough and her husband, Ken, of Broken Arrow, OK; sister-in-law's Jane Beguin of Ponca City, OK, and Kathy Beguin of Ponca City, OK; several nieces, nephews, family members and friends. She will also be missed by her Moose Lodge and Asbury Methodist Church friends, as well as many friends across the country.
Preceding in death were: her parents, Phillip and Florence; husband, Leo; daughter, Phylis Long; granddaughter, Geri Shelton; great-grandson, Tyler Shelton; sister, Janita Prophet; brothers, Jerrold Beguin, Jack Beguin and grandmother, Esther Scurlock.
