Born on October 24, 1929 in Enid, Oklahoma, to Curtis and Pearl Stone, Roberta was the youngest of three children. After graduation from Enid High School in 1947, she attended Oklahoma University and received her nursing degree in 1951. While in nursing school, she met John D. Lee who she later married after her military service. Roberta was a proud Veteran serving her country as an Army nurse in Japan during the Korean war. Roberta and John married on April 10, 1954 and moved to Maine where John completed his military service.
In 1956, Roberta and John settled in Arkansas City, KS where Roberta continued her nursing career at Chiloco Indian Agriculture school and later at White Eagle Health Center in Ponca City, OK. After retiring, they moved to Ponca City in 1994. Roberta loved to travel and was the first person who was ready to go. She enjoyed family fishing trips to Canada, cruises and European vacations with her sons and many other adventures.
Roberta was also known for her sewing, quilting and especially her embroidery skills. She was actively involved with her quilting and sewing groups and always had more projects underway than she could complete. She was ahead of her time and very smart when it came to technology usually having the latest and greatest devices including embroidery machines. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed watching science fiction series. In 2023, Roberta moved to Holly Creek Retirement Community in Centennial, Colorado to be near her two sons. At Holly Creek, she became a local celebrity after the Christmas Quilt show where she had many beautiful quilts on display.
Roberta was a long time member of St. Paul's United Methodist church and was very active in the United Women in Faith organization.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 53 years John Dalton Lee, parents Curtis and Pearl Stone, brother Richard Stone and sister Melva Lee Ellis.
She is survived by her two sons John D. Lee, Jr. (Linda) of Centennial, CO and David L. Lee (Teresa) of Steamboat Springs, CO, nephews Tom Ellis and Mike Stone and niece Debbie Sue Owens.
