Phil D. Hibbets, 73, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on February 16, 2024. A graveside memorial service for Phil will held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 1, 2024, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City.

Phil was born to Jim and Doris Hibbets on March 4, 1950, in Ponca City, OK. Phil attended Washington and Liberty elementary schools and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1968. Phil also attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University for one year. While in school, Phil enjoyed playing various sports. During summers, he worked on farms for a relative in the area. As an adult, Phil's first job was building houses in New Mexico and Arizona on the Navajo Indian Reservation. A few years later, Phil moved to Tulsa and worked as a window cleaner on high rise buildings for 22 years. He then moved back to Ponca City and worked for various contractors at Conoco as a painter and sand blaster. Phil retired in 2006, due to failing health.

As a young man, Phil played golf, but his favorite hobby was fishing. He loved going to ponds, lakes, creeks, and rivers to fish. Phil was an avid college sports fan. He enjoyed watching football, basketball, and baseball, especially OU games. He was also was a fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Phil was a Christian and a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Ponca City.

Phil was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jim and Doris Hibbets. Survivors included: his brother, Gary Hibbets and wife, Terry, of Ponca City; nephews, Kurt Hibbets and wife, Susan, of Little Elm, TX, Kyle Hibbets and wife, Mandy, of Ponca City, OK, great nephews Hayden Hibbets of Collinsville, OK, Carter Hibbets of Ponca City, and Logan Orson of Little Elm, TX; and great-niece, Kylee Hibbets of Ponca City, OK.
