Evelyn Mae Greer
August 18, 1925 - December 7, 2023
Evelyn Mae Greer, beloved Mother and Grandmother, died peacefully in Ponca City on December 7, 2023. She was 98 years loved. Evelyn was born to Glen and Adelene Nelson on August 18, 1925 in Billings, Oklahoma. Evelyn was the second oldest of seven siblings. She grew up in the country working on the farm with her family. When Evelyn turned 18 she moved to Oakland, California and worked for Mr. Lamar at the Broadway Theater. She would always say that it was the time of her life.
On May 24th, 1946 Evelyn married Raymond Greer in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They had two children, Michael on 06/4/1947 and Debra on 10/30/1951.
She graduated from cosmetology school in 1959 and worked at a beauty shop downtown in Ponca City for nearly ten years until she decided to put a shop in at her home on Ash street. Her clients became family and she enjoyed making them feel beautiful for more than 30 years.
She was adventurous and enjoyed; riding horses, gardening, water skiing, flying in airplanes, and spending time with her family. She always chose to see the brighter side of every situation and left a beautiful legacy of love and memories.
She is survived by her son Mike Greer and his wife Sharan; her grandchildren, Renae Woods, Amie Hindman, Heather Dickison, Brandalyn Dickinson, Adam Dickinson, Michelle Mings, Chris Greer; 18 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; and her sister Velma Poplin.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Lynn Greer; her parents Glen and Adelene Nelson ; her siblings Maxine, Eldon, Evon, Jeanie and Ervin.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, December 14th, 2023 at Resthaven Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
