Max Russell Gillogly, 64, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed peacefully on October 29, 2019 at his home. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Private burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Max was born on December 24, 1954 in Ponca City, to Elwin Clay and Dorothy M. (Phillips) Gillogly. Max graduated from Ponca City High School in 1973 and attended Oklahoma State University. He worked for more than 30 years as a truck driver for Evans and Throop which later became Evans and Associates in Ponca City.

He had a life-long interest in guns and with his friend, Terry Allen, was the owner of M & T Automatics for more than twenty-five years. He was an avid competitive card player and loved all animals, especially cats. A ‘gentle giant’ as his niece Tracey referred to him, Max lived a quiet, simple, unassuming life marked by kindness, generosity, good humor, and acceptance for everyone he met, traits we should all incorporate into our lives every day. He will be genuinely missed by friends and family.

Max is survived by his brothers, William C. (Bill) Gillogly and his wife Gail of Ponca City, OK; David B. (Dave) Gillogly and his wife, Millicent of Edmond, OK; nieces, Tracey Wallace of North Richland Hills, TX, Erin Brewer and her husband, Shawn of Edmond, OK, Kacy Pollard and her husband, Jeff of Lee’s Summit, MO, Tonya Artman and her husband, Matt of Ponca City, OK, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved nephew Jeff Gillogly.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humanity Hospice, 1109 N Bryant Ave #100, Edmond, OK 73034. The family would like for you to leave memories of Max at www.troutfuneralhome.com.
