Grant Lincon Challis of Ponca City, OK stepped into the arms of Jesus at 88 years of age on January 22, 2022. Viewing will be held at Trout Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 26 from 2:00-8:00 pm. The family will be there from 6:00-7:30 pm. The funeral will be held at Northeast Baptist Church on Thursday, January 27 at 10:30 am, with Pastor Scott Melton officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
Grant was born to John and Ruby Challis in Bridgeport, Oklahoma on May 20, 1933. In 1952 Grant met Nancy Catherine Woods and they were married on May 2, 1952. They had three children together. Son, Grant Michael Challis born on November 12, 1954, Daughter, Deborah Ann Challis was born July 1, 1957, and Richard Lee Challis was born March 24, 1959.
Grant worked at Industrial Welding Supply for 25 years before transitioning to a position at Conoco; where he worked as a welder and in the layout room until retirement. He was a long-time member of Northeast Baptist Church where he attended with his wife Nancy and family. Grant enjoyed traveling around the continental United States and also made cruise trips to Alaska and Hawaii. One of his favorite trips was a trip with his wife and church family to the Holy Land.
Grant is survived by son, Richard Challis and wife, Lois Challis, daughter, Deborah Anderson and husband, Glen Anderson, son, Mike Challis and wife, Penny Challis.
Seven grandchildren, Christy Snyder, Kim Herrington, Trisha Hughes, Ryan Hughes, Michael Challis, Lorrie Challis, Ali Thiry, Cody Thiry and Evan Challis, fourteen great-grandchildren; Mallory, Hayden, Oliver, Baylea, Alexis, Amelia, Caleb, Mykah, Elliot, Savannah, Chad, Loreli, Arthur and Grant and great-great-grandchildren; Addison, Lynley, Raylea and Connor.
Grant was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; his parents; grandson, Chad Challis; sisters, Ruby Storck, Lucy Plank, Arlene Leonard, Norma Ellis, Iona Byrd and Shirley Hays; brothers, Bill Challis and John Challis, Jr.
