Bessie Brown

Bess Agnes (Phelps) Brown passed into rest on May 29th, 2024. She was residing at Shawn Manor Nursing Home for the final portion of her time with us. Bess was born to her loving parents Robert Earl Phelps and Bessie Agnes (Hawkins) Phelps on April 2nd, 1939 in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Bess moved from Ponca City to Tryon, Oklahoma, Carney, Oklahoma, and finally to Stillwell, Oklahoma in 1953. In 1960 she made the move back to Ponca City, Oklahoma. In 1986, Bess married Johnnie Brown in Kaw City, Oklahoma. Bess had 2 beautiful daughters Orlena and Machilla Fourkiller.
Bess brown loved the lord and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was very talented seamstress with a love for sewing. She enjoyed antiquing and collecting beautiful antiques to decorate her home. Most of all though, Bess loved her grandchildren. She was a beloved Grandmother.
To cherish her memory, she is survived by her daughter Machilla Deavers of Ponca City, Oklahoma, her grandchildren, Richie Golay, Justin Page, and Travis Deavers all of Ponca City, Oklahoma, her brothers Earl Eugene Phelps and Robbie Phelps of Fairfax, Oklahoma, and Lyle Dean Phelps, of Shidler, Oklahoma, her sisters Frankie Sayler and Willa Cowan of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Bess joins her beloved husband Johnnie Brown, her daughter Orlena Page, and her loving parents Robert Phelps, and Bessie Phelps Cowan who had passed before her.
In honor of her memory a graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City, Oklahoma on May 31st, 2024, at 2pm. Pastor Josh Garza of Second Baptist Church will be officiating. Her services are in care of Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
