Resthaven Cemetery

Leona Anderson
June 27, 1928 - October 20, 2023

Leona Anderson, 95, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother passed away on October 20, 2023.

Leona was born on June 27, 1928, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to Martin L. Collins and Ethel M. Potts Collins. Leona began her love of cooking at the age of nine on a homemade oven built by her dad, while her family was living in Arizona picking cotton during the depression. Her family later returned to Pawnee where she met the love of her life Cleo Anderson. Cleo and Leona were married September 18, 1945, in Winfield, KS. They were married for 76 years. Leona enjoyed working at JCPenney's for 17 years. She and her husband retired and enjoyed camping and traveling in their RV. She also loved spending quality time with her family, cooking, and doing craft projects. She was a long time member of the Second Baptist Church of Ponca City, OK. Leona was an extraordinary example of a true Christian woman who professed the love of God to everyone she met. She was an amazing encourager and always saw the good in everything and everyone. All that met her knew immediately that they were loved and a part of her family forever.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children: Shirley Dowty and husband Ed of Woodward, OK; Barbara Henderson of Edmond, OK; Jimmy Anderson and wife Connie of Owasso, OK; and Leisa Payne and husband Darrel of Ponca City, OK; also surviving are her twelve beautiful grandchildren, fourteen adored great-grandchildren, and a precious great-great-grandson, along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Anderson, her mom and dad, Martin L. Collins and Ethal M. Potts Collins, of Wichita, Kansas; her brother James Collins and sister Mary Ellen Orr of Wichita, Kansas; and her son-in-law David Henderson of Edmond, OK.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Second Baptist Church of Ponca City, OK with Pastor Ken Newport and Pastor Ed Dowty officiating. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the care of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City, OK.
