Suzanne Laura Makes Cry White Eagle, 77, of Ponca City, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Ponca City Medical Center. Suzanne was born on October 1, 1934 in Ponca City to Albert and Beatrice Pappan Makes Cry, Sr. Suzanne attended Union and Ponca City Schools graduating from Ponca City High School in 1954.
Suzanne was married to George White Eagle on June 17, 1960. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2003, after being married for over 42 years. George was in the Air Force where they lived in Lake Charles, LA at Chennault AFB when their son Galvis was born, then moved to Clinton, OK at ClintonSherman AFB when daughters Tamara and Cynthia were born, then they moved to Lackland AFB in San Antonio and finally moved back to Ponca City. She received her Associates Degree from N.O.C.
Suzanne enjoyed her family she was Editor of the Ponca Tribal Newsletter, Counselor at Edwin Fair, Counselor at Ponca Tribal Developmental Center. She liked to bowl, making ceramics, attending PowWows, she was a lifetime member of the Ponca Indian Church of The Nazarene Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 38, member of Ponca Indian Scalp Dance Society, very much involved in preserving the Ponca Language, attended Ponca Tribal Senior Citizens Center, she enjoyed visiting, talking on the phone and watching westerns on TV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, HusbandGeorge, SisterRachel Primeaux and 1 Gr GrandsonGeorge Henry Bear. She is survived by her three children Galvis White Eagle of Ponca City, Tamara White Eagle of White Eagle, OK and Cynthia White Eagle of Ponca City. BrotherAlbert Makes Cry, Jr of Bethany, OK SisterHazel Headman of Ponca City. 6 Grandchildren Talia Bear, Wesley Bear, Christi Bear, Marcus Page, Morris Page and Beatrice Page. 5 Gr Grandchildren Ariana Harlan, Jarren Harlan, Kyleigh Bear, Jeremiah Willis and Treyton Willis
Suzanne will lie in state at the Ponca Indian Church of The Nazarene Church on Saturday and Sunday with Funeral Services being 2 pm, Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center with Pastor Louis Headman officiating. Casket Bearers will be Nathaniel Page, Jr., Wesley Bear, Morris Page, Scotty Simpson, Jr., Marcus Page and David Harlan.
Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery of White Eagle, OK.
