Mollie Mae (Kent) Walking Sky
August 25, 1935 ~ August 2, 2019
Mollie Walking Sky was born August 25th, 1935 in a Teepee on the White Eagle Pow Wow grounds. She was raised on Medicine Hill and went to school White Eagle and the Pawnee Indian School. She married Clifford Walking Sky SR. in April of 1952. They had seven children together. Mollie worked in Food service at West Junior High School and was also a cook for the Ponca Tribal Senior Citizens. Mollie enjoyed going to POW WOW’s and dances, eating with Otoe elders. She was a member of the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church, Giveswaters and the Ponca Women’s Auxiliary Club.
Mollie is survived by her daughter; Sylvia Davis Walking Sky of Ponca City, OK, 1 brother; Tracy Roy and wife Barbara of OKC, 2 sisters; Linda Bigshoulder and Joyce Bigshoulder of Perkins, OK 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford Walking Sky Sr, Edith Brown Walking Sky, granddaughter; Janell Walking Sky, Clourine Brown Walking Sky, Francis Walking Sky, Clifford Walking Sky Jr.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 5, 2019 in the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church following the traditional noon Feast and giveaway. With Pastor Jim White officiating. Interment followed in the Ponca Indian Cemetery under the care of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City.
