Thomas Daniel Terry, resident of Ponca City, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 at his home. He was 56.

Thomas was born July 24, 1952 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the son of Thomas Terry and Marie (Capps) Terry. His early education was in the Pawhuska Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army on August 4, 1972 and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from the Army on July 3, 1978. He was married to Delores DeLodge on November 22, 1974 in Ponca City.

Thomas was employed 28 years with Air System Components of Ponca, retiring in 2003. Thomas had played in a band since the age of 14 and had his own bands for several years that included Freedom Rode, Desperados and Triple Shot. He had to give up the band just recently due to ill health. His enjoyments included his family, playing music and a love for the Native American culture.

He is survived by his wife, Delores, of the home; four children, Franklin James Terry, Lacy, Washington, Terri Terry and Tammy Terry, both of Ponca City, and Thomas Daniel Terry III, of Oklahoma City; one brother, Robert Goldman and one sister, Dicie Jones, both of Ponca City; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Zelda Yarber.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Ponca Indian Baptist Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
