Tara Barnett Overland, former resident of Ponca City, passed away Monday,
November 24, 2008 in Dallas, Texas. She was 30.
Tara was born November 30, 1977, the daughter of Terry Barnett and Teresa Elaine
(Jones) Barnett. She attended the Ponca City Schools and completed her GED. She
was married to Frank Overland on October 24, 1991 in Ponca City. She was a
member of the Ponca Indian Methodist Church and her enjoyments included her
children, reading and watching television.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; her five children, Joshua Dean Barnett,
of Ponca City, Phillena Overland, William Bear Overland, Theodore Wayne Overland
and Arthur James Overland, all of the home; her mother, Teresa, of North
Carolina; one sister, Wenona Sue Barnett of Ponca City; several aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her
father, Terry Barnett, and one brother, David Waddell Barnett.
Prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 27, 2008 at the Ponca
Indian Methodist Church. A noon meal will be served on Friday, November 28th
with the funeral service to be conducted at 2 p.m. at the Ponca Indian Methodist
Church. Bro. Jimmy White will preside. Interment will be in the Ponca Tribal
Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Casket bearers will be Jason Soutter, DeForrest Soutter, David Soutter, Steven
Soutter, Christopher Soutter and Daniel Overland. Honorary casket bearers will
be Terrell Primeaux, Franklin Primeaux, Jay Isham, Jeremy Russell Jr., Cory
Grant and Silas Grant.
