Theodore Teddy Overland, formerly of Texas, passed away at his home on Monday, August 2, 2010. He was 57 years old.
Teddy was born on April 17, 1953 in Pawnee, Oklahoma the son of William T. Overland and Vivian Blueback. Teddy attended Chilocco Indian School where he was crowned wrestling king from 19691970. He graduated from Chilocco Indian School in 1971. He moved to Texas in 1973 and resided there for life.
His main trade was welding. Teddy was employed at Glitchs for several years. In his spare time he enjoyed putting puzzles together and playing chess with his brothers. He also liked to watch wrestling.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Overland of Ponca City, Oklahoma stepmother, Ernestine Overland children, Regina Allen and husband, Charles of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, William J. Overland and wife, Shannon of Irving, Texas, Frank D. Overland of Grand Prairie, Texas, Hope Overland of Florida, Ernestine Overland of Florida and Daniel Overland and wife, Angel, of Ponca City, Oklahoma family of Oklahoma, Nelcine Warrior of White Eagle, Roxy Cornell and husband, Simon of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Mary Jo Naves of Bartlesville, OK, B.J. Roughface and Jennie of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Becky and John DeHart of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Ruthie White Tail of White Eagle family of Texas, sister, Lydia Perkins of Irving, Texas Pamela Spencer of Boston, Massachusetts, Gregory Overland of Irving, Texas, Terrence Overland of Irving Texas and Betty Sue Rodgers of Irving, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father grandmother, Helen Overland brother, Nelson Roughface Sr., Gladys Burris numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Casket bearers for the service will be William J. Overland, Frank D. Overland, Daniel Overland, Judson Overland, William B. Overland, Theodore W. Overland, Joe LeClair, J. Overland, Thomas Roy, Charles Allen, Joseph Hughes and Chris Primeaux.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church with Brother Jimmy White officiating. The traditional noon meal will be before the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
