Jonathon “John” Wayne Little Cook, Ah-Hee-Skah, peacefully passed away Tuesday morning at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma. He was 69 years old.
John was born on March 2, 1951, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Amos and Alice Waters-Little Cook. John was a proud member of the Ponca Tribe and comes from the Hisada Clan. John attended Ponca City Senior High School. He was employed with the Ponca Tribe as a security for gaming operations and was later employed by Mid-America Door Company. John enjoyed watching his favorite football team, OU, and loved to play basketball, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and riding his motorcycle.
John is survived by his daughters, Arnell and Joseen Little Cook; granddaughter, Brooklin Barnett; sisters, Carol LeClair and Eva Harragarra; brother, Oliver Little Cook, Sr.; numerous neices, nephews, extended family, and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents Alice and Amos Little Cook; sister, Cecelia Hickman; brothers, Hank and Edwin Little Cook; and daughter, Leslie Diane Little Cook.
Casket Bearers will be Chris Little Cook, Darren Little Cook, Stephen Little Cook, Little Bear Little Cook, OJ Little Cook, and Pete Little Cook. Honorary casket bearers will be Harley Buffalohead, Ozzy Primeaux, Albert LittleVoice, Freddie Others, Sr., and Chuck BlueBack.
Services for the family will be held at the Ponca Tribal Affairs Dining hall Wednesday, November 4, at 7 p.m. A public viewing will take place on Thursday, November 5, at Grace Memorial Chapel from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with graveside services following at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery. The Native American Church will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City, Oklahoma. The guestbook may be signed at www.gracememorialchapel.net.
