Cleona Kent LeClair, longtime Ponca City area resident, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at her home. She was 75.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Ponca Indian Tribal Cultural Center with the Rev. Ted Freeman, pastor of Ponca Indian Baptist Church, officiating. The traditional Indian feast will precede the service at noon. Prayer services will be held this Monday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Tribal Cultural Center
Cleona Kent LeClair was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Pawnee, the daughter of Woolsey and Nellie (Fireshaker) Kent. She attended schools at Chilocco.
On Dec. 22, 1945, she married Perry LeClair in Winfield, Kan. He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1999.
She was a member of the Ponca Indian Baptist Church. Due to the death of a son during Vietnam, she was a Gold Star mother. She enjoyed doing bead and ribbon work and traveling. She also enjoyed arts and crafts.
Survivors include a son, Lionel LeClair of Ponca City; a brother, Garland Kent Sr. of Ponca City; and four sisters, Dorcas Kent of Tulsa, Doris Kent of Morrison, Molly Walkingsky and Bonnie McElroy, both of White Eagle; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition her parents and husband, a son, Prentice Dale LeClair; four brothers, Woodrow, Marland, Leo and Edward Kent; and a sister, Virginia Kent preceded her in death.
Casket bearers will be Garland Kent Jr., Tyler Kent, Thomas Kent, Dakota Kent, John Kent, Dallas Kent and Solon Kent.
