Woodrow Solon Kent, former resident of Ponca City and recent resident of Tulsa, passed Monday, August 4, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 65 years of age.
Woodrow was born August 2, 1949 in Ponca City, the son of Woodrow Kent and Augustine Elk Little Warrior. He was a graduate of Ponca City High School. He was employed in earlier years as a auto mechanic. His enjoyments were working on cars and anything mechanical, and following the Dallas Cowboys.
Survivors include his companion of almost 30 years, Sharon Dawson four children, Anna Primeaux and husband Anthony, Calvin Kent, Gail Boldwarrior and husband Justin, and Woodrow Kent Jr. and wife Nellie, all of Ponca City three stepchildren, Brenton Carney and wife Carla, Chad Carney and Mercedes Pappan and husband Trenton, all of Ponca City two sisters, Nellie Roughface of Ponca City and Ava Pewewardy of Tulsa two brothers, Dakota Kent of Tulsa and John Kent of Largo, Florida 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, Elise Rhodd and Augustine Pappan numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Prayer services will be held Tuesday and Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church in White Eagle. A noon meal will be served on Thursday, August 7, 2014 with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Bro. Jimmy White presiding. Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
