Mike CHICO Gallagher, 60, of Ponca City, left this world on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at St. Marys Medical Center in Enid, OK.
Chico was born on Dec. 4, 1950 in Ponca City to Glenn Foster and Elaine Margaret Switzer Gallagher. Chico was a POHI graduate, class of 69. He met Patricia Patty Bowhay in 1977, while working at Green Light Automotive and later married her on Aug. 2, 1980 in the Ponca City First Christian Church. Chicos hobbies included football and he was an avid OU and Cowboy fan, Chico was known as Fat Boys BBQ and he loved to cook for friends and family, he also loved to play Santa and making house calls. He enjoyed watching NHRA, NASCAR, building cars and was a proud member of the Moose Lodge. Through the years, he worked at Green Light Automotive, Mungers, Conoco Service Station, AutoZone, Tyson Foods and ran and owned Chicos Restaurant.
Chico was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Aaron Foster Gallagher, brotherinlaw Don Bowhay and Inlaws George and Arneva Bowhay.
Chico is survived by his wifePatty, children David and wife Jimmye Gallagher of Newkirk, April Backus of Ponca City and Tyler Gallagher of Ponca City. Grandchildren Aaron, Keenan, Quincey, Jackson, Sheyenne and Santanna. 1 Sister Debbie Dyson and husband Mike of Irving, TX. 1 Brother Dennis Gallagher of San Antonio, TX. Brotherinlaws Rick Bowhay and wife Jean of Kildare, James Parrish Buster Bowhay and wife Cheryl of Yukon, David Bowhay of Ponca City, sisterinlaw Pearl Canaday and husband Garry of Kaw City.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Ponca Indian Cemetery with Oliver Littlecook of the Native American Church officiating.
