Harry Walter Blueback III (Wana'p'azi), pronounced
wah-nonh-pah-zhee and means "not afraid", passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008
near Kaw Lake. He was 22.
Harry was born August 1, 1985 at Ponca City, the son of Harry Walter Blueback
and Rosetta (Primeaux) Blueback. Harry attended the Garfield Elementary School,
West Middle School, East Jr. High School, Ponca City High School and Talking
Leaves Job Corp in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He attended the First Church of God. His
enjoyments included basketball, bowling, playing pool, chess, dominoes,
listening to music and watching the Dallas Cowboy football games. Harry's
special friends included his Garfield Elementary basketball team and Owen Jones
and Wesley Bear.
Harry is survived by his parents, Harry and Rosetta Blueback; his paternal
grandmother, Mabel LeClair of White Eagle; five sisters, Shannon Carney, Anna
Primeaux, Candice Kent, Joann Potts, all of Ponca City and Mary Blueback of
Washington State; four brothers, Chad Carney, Brenton Carney, Calvin Kent and
Noland Blueback, all of Ponca City. He was preceded in death by his maternal
grandparents, Calvin Arkeketa, Priscilla Kihega Arkeketa and Russell Primeaux.
There will be prayer services held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Ponca Indian
Methodist Church. A traditional noon meal will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008
at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center with the funeral service will follow at 2
p.m. at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church with Bro. Jim White presiding.
Interment will be in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace
Memorial Chapel.
Casket bearers will be Noland Blueback, Martin Blueback, Chad Carney, Brenton
Carney, Anthony Primeaux Jr., Jose Baez Jr. and Calvin Kent. Honorary casket
bearers will be A.J. Berryhill, Levi Martinez, Thomas Rosborough, Isiah Blueback,
Skyler Blueback, Clayton Roughface, Johnny Poore and Mark Buffalohead Jr.
