Wenona Sue Barnett passed away in the early morning of Thursday, October 10th, 2019 at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 43. Wenona was born to Terry Wayne Barnett and Theresa Elaine (Jones) Vilchis in Okmulgee on June 25th, 1976.

Traditional Tribal Funeral Services will be held in Wenona’s memory. The services will conclude with the Noon Feast on Monday, October 14th, 2019, followed by the funeral service at the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church, 60 White Eagle Dr, Ponca City with Pastor Jim White presiding. Wenona will be placed in the Ponca Indian Cemetery following the services.

Wenona will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her. She loved her family and the time they got to spend together. Her granddaughter Cora was her world. Sports were a passion for Wenona. She was known as an OU Fanatic and a lover of the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma City Thunder. She laughed a lot and always had a smile on her face.

Wenona leaves behind her children; Corey Grant, Courtney Grant and Silas Grant, boyfriend; Mike Laird, granddaughter; Cora Grant, mother; Theresa Vilchis, sister; Christina Clark, aunts and uncles; Rose LeVern LeClair, Sherry Jones, Virgie Sosa, Michelle LeClair, Nina Perez LeClair, Johnny LeClair, Alex LeClair and Sam LeClair as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; Terry Wayne Barnett, brother, David Barnett and sister; Tara Barnett.
