Eursle Louise Thigpen Young went to be her Lord and Savior on Thursday, the 15th of May 2014. She died peaceful and gracefully at her home.
Eursle Louise Thigpen Young was born September 19, 1922, in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Jesse and Lena Hall Thigpen. She attended Attucks Public Schools, graduated with honors in Music. Eursle Young played the piano for St. John Baptist Church of Ponca City, Oklahoma for years. She was a member of the Eastern Star Society, and Genve Club.
She was a devoted mother, wife, and member of the church. She was employed with the Merrifield Laboratories, as a dentist technician and worked for the Merrifield and W. C. Hamilton family for years. Her hobbies included cooking and sewing. Throughout her life she touched many lives and was a kindhearted and gracious lady.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Jesse Thigpen, BrotherRev. John Thigpen, her husbandWillie Wheat Young, daughterBeverly Jo Graham Morris, sonWillie Lee Young and stepsonJames Harris.
She is survived by daughter, Sharon Kay Young, two sons, Gerald Lester Young of Ponca City, Oklahoma, youngest son, Ben and daughter in law, Marsha Young of Crescent, Oklahoma, daughter in law, Joann Harris of Wichita, Kansas. Grandchildren include Benisha Lashay Young and Ashley Nicole Young of Edmond, Oklahoma, Von Harris of San Antonio, Texas, Brice Harris of Wichita, Kansas, Todd and Shaun Patmon of Round Rock, Texas. Great grandchildren, Jada Nicole Young of Edmond, Oklahoma and Zane Harris of Wichita, Kansas, Tyler Andrew Patmon, Dallas, Texas, Emma and Coleman Patmon, Round Rock, Texas.
Funeral services will be held 2pm Thursday, May 22, 2014, at St. John Baptist Church, Ponca City, Oklahoma with Rev. Robert Pettis officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
