Rosalee Rose White, resident of rural Ponca City, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011 at her home. She was 82 years of age.
Rose was born March 5, 1929 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Jack Mayes and Sarah Trostle Mayes. She moved with her family to the Webb City area in the mid 1930s and then to Ponca City in 1940. She was married to Norris White on October 20, 1973 at Ponca City.
She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church. Her enjoyments were her family, gardening, cooking and family gatherings.
She is survived by her husband, Norris, of the home three children, Donna Johnson and husband, Carl, of Ponca City, Joe Gillespie and wife, Chyrl, of Ponca City, and Sam Gillespie of Oklahoma City one daughterinlaw, Darla Gillespie of Ponca City two sisters, Gerry Ficzeri of Tonkawa, and Linda Saltarelli of Ponca City two brothers, Mike Sommerfeld of Jay, Oklahoma, and Larry Sommerfeld of Tonkawa 18 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents one son, Gary Lee Gillespie 2 daughters, Betty Jester and Vickie Alsup 3 brothers, Harold Mayes, Jackie Lynn Mayes and Rueben Sommerfeld and 1 sister, Peggy Reneer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Faith Tabernacle Church with Pastor Don Stanton presiding. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
