July 9, 1937 - June 22, 2025

The family of Richard (Dick) Ralph Wilson would like to announce his passing. He was 87 years old. A private funeral will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Dick was born July 9, 1937, in Osage County, OK. He peacefully passed on June 22, 2025. Dick was raised in Ponca City, OK, and lived there most of his life. He attended Ponca City Schools where he was very active in all sports. He lettered in all varsity sports. He was also an All-American athlete. He held the longest punting average for many years at Po-HI where he graduated in 1955. He also played football, and baseball at Northern Oklahoma College. Dick started working at Conoco in his college years while attending Oklahoma State University. He retired from Conoco after 30 years of employment. He and his wife, Cheryl, were leaders of the local chapter of Special Olympics for many years. Dick was also influential in the lives of many young athletes in the community, serving as a coach. He married Cheryl Beth Deering on May 23, 1959, in Oklahoma City, OK. Together they had 5 children, Steve Wilson, Carrie Wilson Wakeman, Doug Wilson, Kyle Wilson and Clay Wilson.

Dick is survived by: his children, Steve Wilson, Doug and Terri Wilson of Ponca City, OK; Carrie Wilson Wakeman, Clay, and Alicia Wilson of Howe, TX; as well as, Kyle and Nikki Wilson of Anna, TX; grandchildren, Andy Wakeman, Luke Wilson, Brent and Madison Wilson, Cory and Leslie Waite, Ashley and Joey Crismon, Maddie Wilson, Jackson and Maddie Wilson, Eli Wilson and Mia Wilson. He was privileged to have 4 great-grandchildren, Heidi, Graham, Lucy, and Grant Wilson.

He was preceded in death by: his granddaughters, Chloe Dyan Wilson and Allison (Alli) Marie Wakeman, Carrie's daughter; his wife, Cheryl Beth Deering Wilson; his parents, Lillian Ethel Christie Wilson Schaeffer and Chester Clyde; step-father, MC Schaeffer; brothers, Col. Clifford Wilson, Cecil Wilson, and sister, Joan Wilson Harrison.

We would like to thank very special friends Cory, Angie, and Gillian Neufeld for all the time, love, care and support they have given our father. You have truly been a Godsend to our family.
