Bernadine Elizabeth Van Arsdale, resident of Ponca City, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010, at the Shawn Manor Nursing Home. She was 80. The service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Foursquare Gospel Church with Pastor Blaine Herron, officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. The Van Arsdale family will be gathering in remembrance of Bernadine Van Arsdale and accepting condolences at 1021 N. Birch on Tuesday between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Bernadine was born on March 20, 1930 to William Jennings Whitehouse and Rita Mora (Taylor) Whitehouse in Manford, OK . She was active with her church, and contributed frequently to church youth programs, where she will be remembered affectionately as “Grandma Cookie.” She loved her Lord Jesus and had a kind word for everyone she met. Bernadine was a loving mother who was extremely proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons: Harold L. Van Arsdale and his wife Carol, Gary W. Van Arsdale, E. B. Van Arsdale and his wife Regeneia; four grandchildren: Erik B. Van Arsdale, Aaron Tyler Van Arsdale, Robert Alan Van Arsdale, and granddaughter Sarah and her husband Jarod Payne, and great grandchildren: Kailee, Jimmie, Christopher, and Caleb.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold L. Van Arsdale, her parents, five brothers, one sister, and a son Gilbert Lee Van Arsdale.
Casket bearers will be Erik Van Arsdale, Tyler Van Arsdale, Robert Van Arsdale, and Jarod Payne.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Foursquare Gospel Church Youth and Missions, 700 West Broadway, Ponca City, OK 74601.
