George F. Venable, Jr.
August 22, 1943 ~ June 6, 2022 (age 78)

George Venable was born to George and Katherine Venable on August 22, 1943, and he departed this life on June 6, 2022.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022 in Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City with Pastor Truman Ferguson officiating. Interment will following the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City, OK. viewing will be Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Grace Memorial Chapel.

George was born in Temple, Oklahoma where he graduated from Temple High School and played on the Temple Tigers football team. He was very popular and loved by all. George never met a stranger. His wit and friendly smile were infectious. He had a smile that reflected his love of life.

After graduating, George served his country in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966. In addition to receiving an Honorable Discharge, he also was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Nation Defense Service Commendation. After leaving the Navy, George resided in Los Angeles, California for thirty years where he worked for Douglas, Boeing and Lock Heed Aircraft Companies.

George eventually moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1993 and worked as a postal worker. After retirement from the post office, George worked as a delivery driver for Tony's Pharmacy. He often said that was the best job he ever had. He loved interacting and touching lives of so many people.

He leaves behind his wife of fifteen years, Margaret Venable whom he dearly loved and cherished. He dedicated his life to her care and well-being. Other survivors include sisters, Shirley Venable, Opel (Venable) Goff, Maryetta (Eugene) Harper, stepson, Robert (Pam) Morgan, daughter, Aeeron D. Venable, stepson, Damian Morgan; very special friends Charley Russell, Billy Graham and Lynn Jeffery.

George was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Yolanda Venable
