Emmett "E.W." Wesley Trussell, resident of Ponca City, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016. He was 90 years old. A graveside ceremony to gratefully remember his life will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery with John Waterloo officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Emmett was born on March 31, 1926 to Herbert and Ethel Lela Trussell Ramsey in Ponca City, OK. Ever dedicated to serve his country, he enrolled in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. During WWII, he fought in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, and he was awarded the Purple Heart. After his honorable discharge, he married the love of his life, Catherine Virginia Gee on December 25, 1946. Together, they celebrated nearly 61 years of marriage. In his civilian career, he worked as an electrician and later as an Operator for Conoco. E.W. was proud of his memberships in the I.B.E.W Union, the VFW, and the Masonic Lodge, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. With his free time, he loved to fish and hunt, and he also enjoyed playing the slots. His laughter, his wit, and his charm will all be fondly remembered.
Emmett is survived by his daughters, Beverley Marsee and husband Steve, Pamela Lough, his son Lyles Trussell and wife Sherry, sister-in-law, Shirley Ramsey, and brother, Roy Trussell and his wife Carolyn, sister, Catherine Warren and husband Elbert, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Virginia Trussell, his parents, Herbert O. and Ethel L. Trussell Ramsey, his step-father, Houston Ramsey, brother, Billy Ramsey Sr, sister, Marie Potts and her husband, Leonard.
Casket bearers will be Ricky Trussell, Mike Perry, Wes Lough, Robert Padgett, Mark Frame, Mike Nicholson and Nick Postman.
A family visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home.
Friends and family may come by the funeral home to pay their respects to E.W. on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 13-14, 2016 until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma at 445 Fairview, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Catherine Trussell, life long Ponca City resident, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 at home surrounded by her family. She was 79. A service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, Dec. 26th, 2007 in the chapel of the Trout Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Ratliff, associate pastor, Northeast Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Catherine Virginia Gee, the daughter of Edward and Lillie (Barkley) Gee, was born on February 29, 1928 in Ponca City. She received her education in Ponca City, where she grew up. On December 25, 1946 Catherine married Emmett “E.W.” Trussell. They were blessed with three children. Catherine worked as a real estate broker for many years. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Family members include her loving husband of 60 years, Emmett, of the home; one son, Lyles Trussell and wife Sherry of Ponca City; daughter, Beverley Marsee and husband Steve of Billings,Montana and daughter Pamela Lough of Arkansas City, KS; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Florence Lawson, Edward Gee, Lillian Gasaway, Bernadine McMonigle, Odelle Gee, Roy Gee, Nadine Irene and Gertrude Delphine.
Casket bearers will be Ricky Trussell, Michael Perry, Wes Lough, Robert Padgett, Nic Postman and Rod Piatt.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 1904 N. Union, Suite 103, Ponca City, OK 74601.
