Edna was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on April 7, 1922 to Dean Ford Kirkpatrick and Ella Mae (Barker) Kirkpatrick. She came to Ponca City as a teen and worked at Lane's Sandwich Shop, at the corner of Fourth and Grand. In February of 1939, a customer named Bob Trant came in to eat. They met and as they say, the rest is history. They married on April 12, 1939, a marriage that lasted 67 years until Bob's passing in 2006.
During World War II, Edna worked as a rivet bucketer at Boyer Airplane Plant on South First. Most of her work outside of the home was in restaurants that Bob and her family owned: including; Reisens, Bob's Drive-In, Taco Grande and El Palacio. For the most part, she was a stay-at-home mom.
As a mother to four sons, she was always busy as a helper in the P.T.A., Cub Scouts and getting them to music lessons, ball practices and ball games. Edna loved volunteer work, especially as a Pink Lady at the Ponca City Hospital. She also enjoyed the Senior Center, Art Center and attending community concerts. Her passions were making cookies for her grandkids, oil painting, line dancing, pool at the Senior Center, exercising and reading.
She was a born-again Christian, saved and baptized in 1957. She loved the Lord and always asked people if they had a church home as a way of being able to witness to them. She was a long-time member of Second Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. Most recently, she was a member of Central Baptist Church until she was no longer able to attend in-person services.
