Wilma Lee Schatz went to be with her Lord and Savior, and her beloved husband Wally, on June 2, 2017. Wilma was born on May 6, 1927 in Ponca City, OK to Frank Schutte and Alice Edith (Davis) Schutte. She attended Ponca City schools, graduating from Ponca CIty Senior High School in 1945 and went to work for Continental Oil Company right out of high school.
She married Wallis Schatz, the love of her life, on January 16, 1947 and they were married for 65 years until his passing in 2013. They worked together in the farming and custom harvesting business and played together enjoying fishing, watching football games, and playing cards with their grand kids.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edith Schutte, her sisters, Alice Fulkerson, Elsie Greb, Freta Hamlin, Ruby Arnold and her brother Bill Schutte.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandy James and her husband Robert of Ponca City, and Debbie Cowell of Oklahoma City, OK; two grandsons, Brian James and wife Mary of Ponca City, and Sean Blubaugh of Ponca City; three great-grandchildren Kendal, Kelsey, and Karly James, and numerous friends and Schutteville nieces and newphews who she loved dearly.
A funeral service will be held at First Christian Church in Ponca City at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 with Larry Metzger officiating. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory in Ponca City.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Ponca City Humane Society. Condolences may be sent to the family using the online guest book at troutfuneralhome.com.
