Joyce Marie Stingley, former resident of Ponca City, OK, died at her home in Yukon, OK, Thursday, January 5, 2023.
Joy, as she was known, was born on December 17, 1947 at Ponca City Hospital. She was the first child born to Jim and Betty Stingley, of Ponca City. She was later joined by siblings Jimmy and Suzy. Joy graduated from Ponca City High School in 1967, and then attended Oklahoma State University graduating with a degree in history in 1972. Joy loved life and her greatest love was her family. She and her childhood friend, June Cartwright, enjoyed traveling and spending time together. Joy also liked spoiling her dog and drinking coffee every morning with her. She was always up for a good party and a glass of Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon.
Preceding her in death were her parents, James Erwin and Betty Jane Little Stingley; brother, James David Stingley; parental grandparents, Virgil and Ethel Stingley; maternal grandparents, C.H. and Dora Little. Joy is survived by her sister, Susan Jane and husband Scott Wilson of Yukon; nieces, Keri Wilson Langert and husband Ken of Yukon, Erin Wilson Coats and husband Chris of Yukon; nephew, Sam Stingley of Fairfax; great-nieces and nephew, Anna, Laura, and Lydia Langert, Payton and Isaac Coats; as well as many beloved cousins and lifelong friends. Her infectious smile and laughter will be dearly missed.
