Forrest Rennie Dies at Age 78
Forrest A. Rennie, Route 3 resident, died Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was 78.
He was born May 13, 1900 at Blackwell, and received his education in Blackwell and Ponca City Schools. Rennie resided in Kaw City from 1949 until 1964, moving then to Shidler, coming to Ponca City in 1977. He was a retired employee of Continental Oil Company.
Funeral arrangements are under direction of Gill-Lessert Funeral Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Christian Church with Dr. Don Parsons, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Larry Young, former pastor of the Shidler Christian Church.
Casketbearers will be John Rogers, Ralph Skinner and Richard Hammer, all of Shidler, Oscar Wallace, Blackwell, Sam LeGrand and Richard Klinger, both of Ponca City.
Honorary bearers will be John Mock, Paul Alfray, Virgil Stingley, Coyd Wilson, Frank Engleking, Glenn Price, E.E. "Jack" Klopp and Alfred Fuhr, also former co-workers from Continental Oil Co. refinery.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Gill-Lessert Funeral Home.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret, of the home, Stardust Trail; three sons, Tom Rennie, 1801 Monument, Charles Rennie, 1601 Cookson, and Richard Rennie, Route 1, Burbank; two brothers, Gilbert Rennie, 418 South Lake, and Robert Rennie, Shawnee; also eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rhoda Rennie and a sister.
The family will be at the Tom Rennie residence on Monument.
A memorial fund has been established with the American Cancer Society and contributions may be made in Rennie's name at the First Natiional Bank.
