Ardell Marie Payne passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 88 years old. She was born on June 8, 1929 in Ponca City, OK to Martha Lee Nivens. She worked as a housekeeper at the Ponca City Hospital for several years. She enjoyed exercising at the YMCA, sewing, crocheting, and was especially fond of walking. She was a long time member of St. John Baptist Church of Ponca City.
She is survived by four daughters, Udell Allen, Carol Brown, Jenny Goldsmith, And Sherry Miller all of Ponca City; one son Nathaniel White of Tacoma, Washington; one brother Freddie McKinley of Los Angeles, California; Grandchildren Bonita Goldsmith, Glenda Denson, Elnora Denson, Tony Denson, Gary White, Marsha Carr, Toi White, Themla Kreger, Kenya Goldsmith, Jake Goldsmith, Christal Allen, Marcus Miller, Demetrius Miller ; 30 great grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; her children, Robert, Johnny, and Thelma; a sister, Betty West; and a grandmother Emma Nivens.
Grace Memorial Chapel will be hosting a viewing for Ms. Payne starting on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. until Friday at 8:00 p.m. The family will be present to receive guests from 6 :00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St John Baptist Church in Ponca. The church is located at 1009 S.11th street. Reverend Raymond J. Petties, Jr. will officiate.
Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
