Barbara Jean Oswalt, resident of Ponca City passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 79.

Barbara was born the daughter of Alfred Medley and Margaret Lillian (Darby) Medley in Tonkawa, Oklahoma on January 5, 1929. She grew up in Tonkawa and graduated from Tonkawa High School. She was employed at the Ponca City Country Club and worked in the salad department for fifteen years. Barbara had many enjoyments which included reading, eating out and riding around with her best friend, Regina, crossword puzzles, family gatherings, cooking and adding to her frog collection. Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother and truly enjoyed having her kids around her. She loved animals, especially her two dogs, Paco and Lexis.

She is survived by her four children, Carol Davis, Gloria Ysbrand, Gary Oswalt and Curtis Oswalt; brother, Richard Medely; grandchildren, Monica Boyer, Brandon Anderson, Jason Oswalt, Joey Thomas, Logan Davis, Caylee Oswalt, Nicholas Cremer, Joshua McCleary, Briana Oswalt, Brittany Oswalt and Jonathan McCleary; great grandchildren, Hannah Nicole, Jarred Andrew, Tanner Lane, Abby Ranea, Kacelyn Davis and Jaycee Davis; best friend, Regina Lessert; and her two favorite companions, Paco and Lexis.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Casket bearers for the service will be Jason Oswalt, Joey Thomas, Logan Davis, Brandon Anderson, Chris Spencer and Robert Ysbrand.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2008 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma with Reverend Paul Graham officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ponca City Humane Society, P.O. Box 1671, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74602. The family will be at the home of Curtis Oswalt to receive visitors at 1100 S. 7th Street, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.
