May 3, 1938 - November 6, 2020

Jerry Dale Mayes, 82, of Tulsa, OK, died on November 6, 2020, at the Clarehouse in Tulsa. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Trout Funeral Home. A Funeral Ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church, Ponca City, OK. Burial will immediately follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Ponca City. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Jerry was born on May 3, 1938, in Ada, OK, to Thomas Elbert and Florence (Jennings) Mayes. As a child, his mother and father moved to Oakland, CA, close to the shipyards, to work building ships. They later moved to Pascagoula, MS, where his parents worked in the shipyards as well. His parents moved back to Ada, where he graduated from Ada High School. Jerry was a Dr. of Pharmacy for over 50 years and had a degree in Chemistry from the University of Oklahoma.

Jerry met Barbara Adams at a square dance in 1976, and they were married July 31, 1978, in Tulsa, OK. In the early 80's, Jerry and Barbara traveled to Europe several times. He was a happy, optimistic man with a beautiful smile and gentle brown eyes. He was a conversationalist, but just as happy listening. He enjoyed western movies and classic philharmonic music.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Adams); son, Jason R. Mayes, of Tulsa; brother, Wayne Keith Mayes of Columbus, OH; and 2 grandchildren, James and Marshall, of Arlington, TX; daughter-in-law, Tania.

Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Dyke Mayes; his parents and a sister, Joy Burrough.
