Ponca City-Robert Larry Jones, 62 , longtime resident of Ponca City, OK, died Jan. 6, 2002, at Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
Services were at 2 p.m., Jan. 10, 2002 at Central Baptist Church. The Rev. John Waterloo officiated. Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery with Amercian Legion Post 14 performing the flag presentation. Grace Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with Central Baptist Church, 618 E. Hartford, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
Jones was born June 24, 1939, in Medford, OK to Helen Evelyn (Barr) and Robert Lloyd Jones. He was raised in Enid, OK, and graduated from Enid High School.
On June 15, 1964, he married Glenda Louise Cranford in Wichita, Ks where they made their first home. In 1967 they moved to Ponca City, Ok where he worked at the City's water filter plant for 30 years. His wife died August 12, 1987.
On September 11, 1995, he married Mary Thurman Bruner in Eureka Springs, Ark., and they made their home in Ponca City, Ok.
Jones was a member of Central Baptist Church, American Legion Post 14 and several bowling leagues.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jones, and a daughter, Kathy Jackson, both of Ponca City; three stepsons, Loren, Donnie, and Ronnie Bruner all of Arkansas City, Ks; a stepdaughter Pamela Stephens, Blackwell, Ok., and Sharon Mudd, Lebabon Junction, Ky., 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
