Edith Hurst

Edith Hurst, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother died February 22, 2011. Edith was born November 11, 1916 to Henry Clay Dixon and Mary Zone (Kittie) McCamant Dixon ten miles east of Marland in the Tearney Community, attending elementary school through the 8th grade and later Marland High School.

On May 30, 1936 Edith married Ed Holmes and they then lived in the Ponca City, Oklahoma area. Ed was deceased in August 1983. She was married to Olen Hurst on April 29, 1989. Mr. Hurst preceded her in death in November of 2003. Edith was known for her dedication to her family, her gracious hospitality, and for her unconditional love and acceptance of those around her. Her faith in and love for God has been evident throughout her life. Edith was a member of Providence Baptist Church which she attended for many years. Edith worked at Sears Roebuck for 10 years and was later employed at Montgomery Ward. 

Edith is survived by three children, Louise Swain and husband, Earl and their three children, Lynette Lagow and husband, Mark, Mike Olsovsky and wife, Cynthia, and Terri Pulec and husband, Michael, Cecil Holmes and his two sons, Brian, and wife, Danielle, and son Eric, and Larry Todd, married to Janet Petty, and his four daughters Shawn (married to Nathan Pakukoa), Buffie (married to Brad Deibler), Kelle (married to Tyler Stephenson), and Tara, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Edith is also survived by two sisters, Mattie Cardwell of Lamont, Oklahoma and her husband Elton Lee, and Jewell Danford of Strasburg, Colorado. Also one sister-in-law, Dorothy Dixon of Enid, Oklahoma, along with many nieces and nephews. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday evening, February 25, 2011 at Grace Memorial Chapel. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26th at 10:00 A.M. at the Providence Baptists Church with Kevin Grant presiding. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. 

Casket bearers will be Danny Holmes, Mike Swain, Brian Holmes, Eric Holmes and Michael Swain.
