Mary Katherine Katie Spoon Hunter, longtime resident of Ponca City, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 08, 2011, at the age of 96.

Katie was born on June 5, 1915 in Lamont, OK to Nerr and Mary Frances Muegge Spoon. Her parents resided in Lamont until they passed away.

Katie graduated from Lamont High School in 1933 and in 1936 she married Charles Edward Hunter in Enid and they moved to Ponca City after he graduated from Oklahoma AM. This is when she became a beautician at Reolas Beauty Shop and continued working until she was 92, spending 70 years in her occupation. Katie was a longtime member of the 1st Christian Church, she was loved and respected by all who knew her, she was a wonderful and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. She enjoyed going to Bingo, watching Wheel of Fortune, daily soaps, pro football and loved her OSU Cowboy Football team. When she joined her husband and parents, they will likely be playing cards pitch and she will have her poker machine playing deuces wild. GO KATIE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brotherEarl Spoon and her husband Charles who passed away on October 27, 1992.

Katie is survived by 2 daughters Mary Paula Hunter of Tulsa and Charlotte Hunter Conger of Las Vegas, NV. 1 son Charles Edward Chuck Hunter, Jr. of Ponca City. Grandson John Hunter and his wifeNaomi, 2 granddaughters Krystal Anne Hunter and Brandy Nicole Parker and her husband Shannon Parker of Oklahoma City. 2 greatgranddaughters Karah Hunter and Grace Katherine Hunter. NephewNerr John Spoon and 2 NiecesMadonna Spoon Todd and Willa Jo Bishop Rushing

Funeral Services will be 10 am, Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Hope Chapel of I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Pastor Tom Howard of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, officiating.
