Bobbie Lee Hibbs, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 87 years of age.

Bobbie was born October 23, 1925 in Miami, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joseph Fain Willson and Emilie (Kunzer) Willson. She was a graduate of Miami High School. She was married to Joseph L. “Joe” Hibbs on December 2, 1944 in Ponca City. The couple made their first home in Denver, Colorado as her husband was stationed there in the Air Force. The couple then moved to Miami, Oklahoma and then to Ponca City in 1945.

Mrs. Hibbs was employed in earlier years as a sales clerk with the Howards store in Ponca City.
She was a volunteer at the Ponca City Hospital for many years and helped work the voting polls in Ponca City. She was an avid bowler from the 1950’s thru the 1980’s. She enjoyed reading, especially Louis L’Amour books.

She is survived by her two children, Jay Hibbs and wife, Betty, and Sharon Hunt and husband, Duane, all of Ponca City; one brother, Jim Willson of Tulsa; 3 grandchildren, Joel Hibbs, Angelia Hamlin and husband, Kirk, and Paul Hunt; 2 great granddaughters, Jessica Hamlin and Kimberlyn Hamlin; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joe, in July 1976; one brother, Lloyd Wilson and one sister, Anna Mae Stoner.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tom Ramsey presiding. Interment will be in the Ponca City IOOF Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Jay Hibbs, Duane Hunt, Paul Hunt and Joel Hibbs.
