Robert Lee “Bob” Harris of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died Tuesday evening, May 2, 2017, in the AllianceHealth-Ponca City at the age of 71 years.
Robert Lee “Bob” Harris was born on September 19, 1945, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Paul Victor and Mary June (Arigo) Harris. He grew up in Ponca City and attended Ponca City Public Schools graduating with the class of 1963. After graduating from High School, he continued his family farming operation until 1984. He then furthered his education by attending Heat Treat in Tulsa where he earned certification in the heat and air industry. Upon completion of his training he returned to Ponca City and owned and operated Harris Heat and Air until retirement in 2015. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for the past 30+ years and was very active in assisting other members in the area. He missed farming and still enjoyed driving the countryside, especially during harvest. He also enjoyed playing checkers and solitaire on his computer.
He is survived by two daughters, Karri Morrill and husband Jeremy of Tonkawa and Rebecka Childers and husband Mark of Ponca City; a son, Jeff Stone of Ponca City; three brothers, Dick Harris of Tulsa, and Ronnie Harris of Wichita, Kansas, Brad Harris of Nebraska; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Sam, and Kaydon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 9th in the Carolyn Renfro Events Center in Ponca City with Rev. Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church in Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ponca City.
Honorary casket-bearers will be Tommy Jenkins and Ken Vogt.
A memorial has been established in his honor with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, Inc. in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
