She then attended Northern Oklahoma College for two years. Grant and Deanna were married on May 27, 1960. They both graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1960 with degrees in education. Deanna taught one year at Woodlands Elementary School and then began their family. She stayed at home to raise her children. She believed this was one of God's greatest callings.

In 1981, Deanna and Grant started a cleaning business called G and H Pure Clean Carpets. For 21 years, Deanna managed the company during the day. Grant and his sons took over in the evening and on weekends. In 1996, Deanna and Grant decided to build a home on part of the historic 101 Ranch. Deanna worked on the barns and helped to build fences on the small horse ranch. She was a tireless worker.

Deanna loved to sew. She made all of the clothes for the family and wore out several sewing machines. She was a good cook and canned a lot of vegetables from the garden. She loved horses and along with Grant, rode horse trails all over Oklahoma. She helped Grant build horse trials around Kaw Lake.

Deanna loved to sing in the First Baptist Church Choir and taught Sunday School for many years. Deanna sang with a fine alto voice. If you close your eyes and listen, you might hear her harmony part to that great gospel classic, "Amazing Grace". Her greatest love was for her Lord and for her family - her husband, her sons, daughter, foster-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
